Statement on Election Results

"I want to first take a moment to congratulate all of the candidates who are moving on to the general election. I have a lot of respect for those who run for office. It is not easy, and many know that at times it can be a very thankless.

I also want to thank everyone who came out to support and vote for me in this primary election. A total of 1,053 members of our community voted for me, placing me 5th in the DEM race and 6th in the REP race. I am beyond thankful for your support.

Finally, I want to thank all of the people who passed out my cards throughout the entire campaign, who put signs in their yards, and the amazing individuals who stood at the polls today from beginning to end. Your hard work and dedication to my campaign helped me reach 5th place— only missing 4th (which would have moved me to the General) by 31 votes.

I am overwhelmed by the amount of support that I have received, and it was great to talk to all of the voters today. Even though I did not win the primary, placing as high as I did in the DEM and REP race is a big enough win for me as a 19-year-old who is looking to create a positive change in our community. To me, it shows that the community is ready for a young voice to fight for us. Right person, wrong time.
